“The Multitude,” a speculative tale based on the birth of Jesus, concerns a humble stonecutter and his tiny family, crudely exiled from Jerusalem because of their small daughter’s disabilities, who take up new lives in the hills outside of the city of Bethlehem in Judea. Reinventing themselves as shepherds, the family bands together and trusts in God. Their son, a compassionate but restless teenager, dreams of an adventurous existence in which he will restore his family from disgrace. He obeys his parents and dotes on his beloved, unusually brilliant little sister, and waits for his moment.
But then they all bear witness to a celestial event that alters the course of human history, and changes each of them individually forever….
